UEFA Champions League Winners List and Short History

m88 given all this it is no surprise that the Champions League is considered the biggest and best club football competition in the world.

Champions League Winners List

Since the Champions League competition began in 1955 there have been 21 different clubs who have lifted the trophy. However, after Inter Milan and Bayern Munich defied bookies and reached the final last year anything could happen is this year’s Champions League!

. Only 12 teams have managed to win the competition more than once and the record for most wins is held by Real Madrid with a tally of 9. Both Valencia and Stade Reims have reached the Champions League final twice but lost on both occasions. It started out as a straight forward knockout football competition in 1955, in which only the club champions of each European country could enter.

What’s more, participating clubs also receive TV revenue on top of prize money which again is highly lucrative considering that the Champions League final is the most watched sporting event in the world with around 100 million global viewers. As ever Barcelona, Manchester United, Chelsea and Real Madrid have been ranked as favourites for the competition. In its current form the Champions League also allows more than national champions to enter with countries such as England and Spain having 4 teams qualify for the competition.

Champions League Prize Money and TV Ratings

The European cup is a highly lucrative competiton for football clubs in the modern era with Champions League prize money reaching up to EUR36.4 million for a championship winning campaign. In its modern form the Champions League has 3 stages; First there is the qualification stage for the clubs who do not qualify automatically, then when the main competition begins there is a group stage consisting of 8 groups of 4 teams. 2 teams qualify from each group through to the knockout stage of the Champions League. Even if a club lost every match in the group stage of the Champions League they would still walk away with EUR3.3 million.

Champions League MedalWhat is now known as the UEFA Champions League began life as the European Champions Club Cup and did not change its name to the Champions League until 1992. In terms of country wins the Champions League has been held the most in Italy, Spain and England with 12 titles for Spain and Italy and 11 titles for England.

The current Champions League champions are Inter Milan but the 2010/2011 competition is already underway and so it will not be long until there is a new title added to this list. Here is a list of all the Champions League winners:

Football Team – Times Won – Years WonReal Madrid – 9 titles – 1956, 1957, 1958, 1959, 1960, 1966, 1998, 2000, 2002AC Milan – 7 titles – 1963, 1969, 1989, 1990, 1994, 2003, 2007Liverpool FC – 5 titles – 1977, 1978, 1981, 1984, 2005Bayern Munich – 4 titles – 1974, 1975, 1976, 2001Ajax – 4 titles – 1971, 1972, 1973, 1995Barcelona – 3 titles – 1992, 2006, 2009Inter Milan – 3 titles – 1964, 1965, 2010Manchester United – 3 titles – 1968, 1999, 2008Benfica – 2 titles – 1961, 1962Juventus – 2 titles – 1985, 1996Nottingham Forest – 2 titles – 1979, 1980Porto – 2 titles – 1987, 2004Celtic – 1 title – 1967Hamburg – 1 title – 1983Steaua Bucuresti – 1 title – 1986Marseille – 1 title – 1993Feyenoord – 1 title – 1970Aston Villa – 1 title – 1982PSV Eindhoven – 1 title – 1988Red Star Belgrade – 1 title – 1991Borussia Dortmund – 1 title – 1997It can be seen that Real Madrid and AC Milan have been most prolific in the Champions League throughout history, but in the modern era Barcelona have dominated with 3 wins in the last 18 years

Top 5 Soccer Stadiums In The World

m88 the bowl shaped arena was first built in 1957 and has been through at least two major changes in that time in order to keep pace with both demand, and expectations ofits’ supporters as the team on the pitch formed themselves into what in recent seasons been critically proclaimed as arguably the greatest club side that has ever played soccer.

Estadio do Maracana – Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Originally built in 1923, the original Wembley Stadium – famous for its Twin Towers – was demolished in 2002 to be completely rebuilt into a modern national stadium that the England National Team would be proud of to call their home ground. Although this list includes the venue which holds the world record for highest attendance at a soccer match, as well as the current top 3 largest capacity stadium’s in Europe, it is not a deinitive collection of the current 5 largest, the 5 oldest, the 5 most expensive or even the 5 most picturesque in the world. Designed by world famous architect Sir Norman Foster, in keeping with style from the original construction’s focal point of it’s Twin Towers, the main centre piece of this creation is the 134 meter high steel arch, which stretchs a span of 317 meters over the length of the Stadium and is the worlds longest single span roof structure and which actually requires beacons to alert low flying aircraft.

L’Estadi Camp Nou – Barcelona, Spain

Here we look at possibly the 5 greatest soccer stadiums, in no specific order, that you will find anywhere in the world. This is a list of what is believed to be the 5 most awe-inspiring, illustrious and above all truly magnificent venue’s purely designed for ‘The Beautiful Game’.

Wembley Stadium – London, England

white.u1.jpg” width=”381″ />

Originally onstructed in 1947 under the original name of Nuevo Estadio Chamartin (New Chamartin Stadium) with a then a capacity of over 75,000. It was not until 1955 that the decision was taken to change its’ name to the current one in honour of Club President and the Project Manager of construction, Santiago Bernabeu Yeste. Do you agree with this list? I’d like to hear your thoughts and suggestions on what would make up your top 5 soccer stadiums. Please add you comment below to continue the debate!. This capacity has been reduced through renovations, and the record attendance for a matchto be held here is a staggering 120,000 people who squeezed inside the stadium to witness a match between the home side and Juventus of Italy on March 5th 1985. With the 2014 FIFA World Cup being held in Brazil next year, The Maracana is scheduled to host a number of matches, including once again the Final.

Stadio Giuseppe Meazza – Milan, ItalyMore commonly known as the San Siro, after the borough of the city in which it was constructed, with a capacity of 80,018 this is the joint home stadium to fierce Milan rivals AC Milan and Internazionale (or Inter Milan). With a current capacity of 85,454, Real Madrid’s home is the third largest stadium in Europe, behind Spanish rivals Barcelona’s Nou Camp and England’s Wembley, and is widely acclaimed as being one of the few true cathedral or coliseums of soccer. Home to this century’s most successful team, FC Barcelona, The Nou Camp has the highest capacity in Europe, with it being able to hold 99,786. After construction delays and legal wrangles, the ‘New’ Wembley was finally opened in March 2007 at a cost of over £750 million ($1,165 million) with a capacity of 90,000 spectators, which the is second largest stadium in Europe behind only Barcelona’s Nou Camp. The official (paid) attendance that day was 199,854 but the game’s actual attendance was believed to be around 210,000. The Santiago Bernebeu was used as the venue for the 1982 FIFA World Cup Final, between Italy and West Germany, and underwent a period of renovation to prepare it for this event.

Soccer – The World Game

Although not as popular in the US, soccer is the by far most popular, most watched, and most participated team sport in the world. Whether it simply be a kick about on the local park, or at a magnificient great stadium that is respected like a ‘Cathedral of Soccer’, wherever the game is being played, you will always find passion both on the pitch, and in the spectators watching.

The Maracana was built in 1950 in Brazil’s most famous city in order to be used as a venue for the 1950 FIFA World Cup. Along with probably every major stadium in the world, it has been renovated a number of times in order to modernise and to increase safety standards by removing terraced standing areas in favour of safer seated sections, and this has reduced its overall capacity to its current level of 78,854 spectators. However when it was originally constructed capacity was well over double this amount and it was whilst hosting the final of the 1950 tournament on July 16th 1950 between Brazil and Uruguay, that it set the current world record attendance for a football match. Originally open in 1926 as home to AC Milan, it was one of only two soccer stadiums at that time in Italy that was built without a running track surrounding the pitch, allowing the fans to be nearer the pitch. Then in 1947 Inter Milan moved to play their home matches at the San Siro and the two have shared the ground ever since, although Internazionale are currently looking into plans to build a specific 60,000 seater stadium of their own.  The stadium is famous for the bright red girders of the roof, and the concrete towers in each corner supporting it, which was installed along with the third tier of seating on just three sides (crating the unique part open side) in order to prepare the venue to host games at the 1990 FIFA World Cup held that year in Italy.Estadio Santiago Bernabeu – Madrid, Spain

Do you agree?

The debate between soccer fans over who has the best home stadium for a variety of reasons will go on for as long as the game itself is played

Messi’s Fourth Ballon D’Or: Is Lionel Messi the Best Soccer Player Ever?

m88 just imagine what his trophy room(s) must look like.

Mikhail Turner, a featured columnist for BleacherReport.com,

listed 7 different reasons why the world should hail Messi as the best player ever. Maradona was 25 – Messi’s current age – when he led Argentina to glory in Mexico in 1986 with 5 goals of his own.. This latest accolade further cements his case as the best footballer (soccer for you Americans) in the world.

If we just examine his club statistics, there’s no question about his preeminence. Ever since he surpassed Muller’s record there’s been a lot of talk about whether he is the best ever to play the game. In fact, Pelé was just the schoolboy age of 17 when he scored six goals en route to the 1958 World Cup title. In terms of his other accomplishments though, he will not match up to Messi in the end, and Messi may just match his greatest international achievement.”

Messi’s 91 goals scored in 2012 is nothing short of astonishing. I admit that there are millions of devoted fans around the world who will proclaim just the opposite, that Messi is the best player ever and that no one, past or present, can match him.

Messi’s goal also sealed a 2-1 away win against a quality-laden Real Betis and gave Barcelona its 14th victory in 15 games to open the current La Liga season. Here’s one of them: “When you consider what Maradona did for his World Cup trophy, it has to be viewed very highly. That kick ensured Messi’s place among the elite in the sport.

It was only weeks ago that Messi received a clever back heel pass from teammate Andrés Iniesta. Simply put: Lionel Messi is a goal machine and any team would be blessed to have him.

First and foremost, he has yet to lead Argentina to a World Cup title, something Brazil’s Pelé and fellow countrymen Maradona did in their playing days. To say so – in my humble opinion – is a bit far-fetched. The striker has helped Barcelona to five La Liga titles (2005, 2006, 2009-2011); two Copa del Reys (2009, 2012); five Supercopas (2005, 2006, 2009-2011); three UEFA Champions League titles (2006, 2009, 2011); two UEFA Super Cups (2009, 2011)and two FIFA Club World Cups (2009, 2011). I know, it’s a lot to keep track of. The ball was perfectly positioned in front of the opposing team’s net, and without hesitation, the 25-year-old swung his powerful left foot, struck it, and placed it perfectly into the back of the net for his 23rd goal of the season.

But is he really the best player ever as some pundits have asked?

But that goal doesn’t even begin to tell the whole story.

As good as he is and as incredible as his numbers are, Messi still has a short way to go before he achieves the greatness of Pelé or Diego Maradona or Johann Cruyff, but he’s not far.

On Monday, Barcelona forward Lionel Messi – also known as “la pulga”, or the flea – won a record 4th consecutive Ballon d’Or trophy, an award given to the best players in the world. Oh, let’s not forget about the four straight Ballon d’Ors as well. The goal also vaulted Messi past the legendary player Gerd Muller, who owned the previous record for most goals (85) scored in a calendar year

the era of CR7-hegemony at real madrid have been some of its lightest trophy wise. had modric and alonso not held the team together in adversity last year, CR7 madrid woulda been left with just 2 meaningful titles in 5 years most likely, but instead ronaldo was eft scratching his head as to why sergio ramos was doing his fking job for him when it mattered and CR could not even muster an ounce of gratitude or relief.

he is a goal-poacher now who does not create enough, dictate play or beat a man.

Manchester United’s Aon Deal Not Big Enough to Appease Bond Investors

m88 All Rights Reserved. The Aon deal was about 40 percent more than AIG paid for the same rights.

You’d think that Manchester United’s £80 million deal with Aon for the lead sponsor slot on its team shirts would have made the club rich. It’s unrated, so some investors can’t take it, and there’s a very busy new-issue calendar so there are plenty of alternatives. But no, just like last year — when it lost £21.4 million — the club is struggling to keep its financial head above water.

Man Utd. Here’s the reaction from investors:.

Bayern Munich: £25.5 million a year (through 2013) with Deutsche Telekom/T-Home

Liverpool: £20 million a year (£81 million over four years) with Standard Chartered

Manchester United: £20 million a year (£80 million over four years) with Aon

Real Madrid: £18.3 million a year (£55 million over three years) with Bwin.com

Juventus: £15 million a year (£75 million over five years) with Tamoil

Chelsea: £12.5 million a year (£37.5 million over three years) with Samsung

Manchester City: £8m a year (£24 million over three years) with Etihad Airways.

Arsenal: £6.7 million a year (£100 million over 15 years) with Emirates

Last Updated Jan 13, 2010 12:07 PM EST

With growth of just under 9 percent and margins of around 10 percent during a recession, you’d think that makes Man Utd a solid financial proposition. Most people just won’t focus on something with far too much leverage, limited free cash flow and lumpy earnings.

Jean-Luc Petit, BT Investment Management: “This looks like a fairly risky type of investment considering the amount of leverage the American owners have … also sold striker Cristiano Ronaldo to Real Madrid for £80 million, and BusinessWeek reports that Aon paid a £35.9 million advance on its contract. Still saddled by £608 million in debt from Malcolm Glazer’s 2005 buyout of the club, Man Utd is looking to raise £500 million in a sale of junk bonds. I don’t think mainstream bond fund managers would be that interested in investing in Manchester United.”

© 2010 CBS Interactive Inc.. But the club reported 2009 net income of just £25.6 million on revenues of £278.5 million. Those revenues inched up from last year’s £256.2 million take.

But Wall Street is unimpressed. More numbers here and here.

BNET’s Global Football Sponsorship Deal League:

Tatjana Greil Castro, Evolution Securities: “Most traditional high-yield investors won’t touch this ..

Who is the Best soccer Player of all time? Pele, Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, or Maradona? And why?

m88 playing in Europe would have sealed his status as the best ever. I would have to disagree with Scott.

I would like to believe Maradona was the best ever. However, he never played professionally outside of America. He is still the undisputed leading goal scorer of all time.

Messi could still steal the accolade if he can win the World Cup with Argentina. It was a shame.

Many people would swear it’s Pele, for obvious reasons. He completely dominated Mexico 86. And Maradona was a huge success in Europe with Barcelona and unfancied Napoli. Which I believe was the best World Cup tournament ever staged. He played in the golden generation of Brazilian football, and won 3 world Cup medals. The Ballon D’or was not awarded to non European players during Pele’s and Maradona’s era. . Napoli’s best years were with Maradona. And was successful with his club career with Santos. He singlehandedly won the World Cup with an average Argentinian squad

Some Tips To Help You Win at Daily Fantasy Sports

m88 in those we simply need to be slightly above average to win consistently.

Don’t Fall in the Trap

There are two main types of contests players can participate in. That however can not be said of the 50/50 odds match-ups. That can either be going head to head against another randomly selected player or in a tournament with 50/50 odds where the top half of participants win. 50/50 contests are those which have 50/50 odds. That’s great if you don’t mind adding money to your account all the time. In Daily Fantasy Sports (or DFS) players put together a team and compete head to head or in large scale tournaments against other players online. 50/50 and Large Scale Tournaments. There are a few similar sites out there so do your research!

Most new players are attracted to the large scale high prize tournaments. That way assuming I picked an above average team the $20 will return $40. They might even get lucky and actually place in one of those tournaments once in a while. This will keep your bankroll stable and allow you to have all the fun of “lotto ticket” tournament play while minimizing the need to add cash to your account.

I’ve been an avid player for the past 4 years and have grown my bankroll and even pulled out funds (after tournament wins) on occasion. Much like buying lotto tickets the excitement of the possibility of winning tens of thousands of dollars in a single lineup entry is hard to resist. The key to long term success in daily fantasy sports is focusing on 50/50 odds entries. Remember that the rule of thumb is for each lineup 80-20% ratio of $ ‘s entered in 50/50 odds vs tournaments. Still over time entering low odds tournaments is a road to an empty bankroll. The other type are large scale tournaments with big prizes for the winners. The key is a disciplined betting strategy combined with research and a high level of knowledge in the sport you choose to play.

Do Your Research

. If I lose the tournament I’m still left with $35. Generally that means a 4 or 5 to one ratio of 50/50 to Tournaments. In simpler terms, for each lineup I come up with I’ll bet $20 on 50/50 odds and $5 in a low odds tournament. The odds of winning depends on what type of contests players choose to participate in.

One of the best sites for Daily Fantasy Advice, particularly dealing with Fantasy Football is Fantasyfootballadvisor.net . Realistically even someone that has very little fantasy football knowledge could simply construct lineups using their advice column. Typically these can be anything from 100 to 10,000 participants with prizes ranging from a few hundred dollars to a million or more.

What is Daily Fantasy Sports?

Since both types of contests are fun to play and I do love the excitement of large scale tournaments my system involves playing both types but spreading the bets around so that in essence the 50/50 entries pay for the tournament entries. All of the participants choose from the same player pool. If I happen to place in or win a tournament it could mean thousands or more.

Different Tournament Types:

Summary

The key to long term success in Daily Fantasy is finding the right balance of entries in the various contest types in any given week.

Daily Fantasy Sports is a new take on Fantasy that has been on the rise ever since the courts ruled Fantasy Sports betting to be a game of skill rather then “Gambling”. They provide weekly in-depth analysis and cheat sheets for Fanduel and Draftkings Daily Fantasy Football lineups. Let’s face it we all think we are great at whatever fantasy sport we like to play but the idea that it is possible to win tournaments that pay out the top 10% of scorers is about as likely as the odds of beating the stock market consistently

Rory Anderson: 12Bet happy to be in Hull

12bet they are both very exciting leagues (Spain England). We are based and licensed in the Isle of Man, and the Gambling Supervision Commission here are very experienced and quite strict in terms of their licensing conditions. We also wanted a club that played attractive football and had the ability to beat anyone on their day. It’s all about the number of eyeballs.. 12BET is now more established as a brand and our sponsorship goals have become more ROI focused. Hull are an ambitious club that clearly wants to establish itself as a Premier League mainstay. This will be our fifth consecutive season where we will have had solid Premier League exposure. In terms of strict ROI these benefits are hard to value. So far I have not seen anything from the UKGC that has caused us major concern as most of the general rules and regulations are sensible and are in line with what we have in place in the Isle of Man already. We frequently give away tickets and signed shirts. Steve Bruce is clearly a strong manager.

SBC: What changes have you made to business regarding the UK’s point of consumption tax?

Anderson: We are currently going through the UK application process. However, I would say that, in general, kick off times in England and the fantastic distribution deals that have been done, help to make the viewing figures in the Premier League second to none. Player protection has always been the priority here.

12bet-roryanderson12Bet will be back on a Premier League team shirt this season after the Asian-facing bookmaker signed a deal to become Hull City’s new main sponsor. I think the squad he has built will surprise a few people this year.

SBC: You also taken shirt sponsorship in Spain previously – how different was that to the EPL in terms of ROI?

Anderson: The Sevilla deal was very important in terms of establishing ourselves in Europe. It was important to us to work with a club that had strong potential to retain Premiership status for the following season. We invited guests to Crystal Palace last year where we were Stadium Sponsors. It’s the most popular league in the world so we are delighted with the association. It’s perhaps unfair on Sevilla/La Liga to compare what we did then to what we are doing now in terms of strict ROI. It was a good brand building exercise and we gained fantastic exposure through the partnership. We do not have infinite resources, so price was clearly an issue. Our Twitter and Facebook work around the club’s fanbase is not about hard sell. It’s the Premier League that delivers the global viewing figures that makes such activity worthwhile. Our logo on the shirt, the perimeter advertising and the interview backdrops. We did not get much exposure from Wigan’s involvement in the Europa League last season and were more enthused by their domestic cup run.

SBC: First up – Why Hull City?

Anderson: There were a few Premier League clubs available in terms of shirt sponsorship for the upcoming season. The feedback we received from our partners was fantastic, so from a relationship building point of view, this activity worked. From a sponsor’s point of view, this is clearly very appealing. It’s more about goodwill.

SBC: Last year you were on Wigan’s shirt when they played in the Europa League and Hull will play in Europe this year – do you get any uptake from these excursions or is the value really in the EPL?

Anderson: For us, this sponsorship is all about the Premier League. 12Bet CEO Rory Anderson explains how the deal came about and what value it gives to the firm in terms of international exposure.

SBC: Aside from the shirt space, what else do you get from the deal? How do you value these extras?

Anderson: The primary driver for us was the TV facing branding elements of the deal. We were in talks with all of them. We also value being able to use the club’s logo and player imagery and aim to make good use of the hospitality tickets that we receive

Casino-Gaming :: What Percentage Of Races Does The Favorite Horse Win?

Look at the odds being offered and if they are better on the second or third horse, then go for it.

As a general rule, the favorite will win about 1/3 of the time, but what is amazing is how often the favorite will place, especially when less than half of the field is 5-1 or lower. In this case a favorite will place almost 100% of the time.

In a race with only six horses running, you have a 1 in 6 chance of picking a winner. In a race with 20 runners you have a 1 in 20 chance of picking the winner. In 2 out of 3 races some other horse wins.

As one can see, it often is better to bet on a horse you think is going to place. The reason being that the odds are often better than the favorite winning the race. Thus, I suggest that you limit yourself to horse races with either 6 or 9 horses running to have the best chance of winning.

If the horses just below the favorite have better odds, such as 4/1, 5/1 or better; then place your bet on those horses.

In my opinion, the secret of winning on the horses is to look at the statistics. However, let us say that the race has just six runners, then you have a 1 in 6 chance of winning. You really need odds of at least 4/1 to win anything if the horse that you bet on places second or third. Thus, you can see that the fewer the runners there are, the better your chances of winning. Thus, place your bet around 20 minutes to race time.

In order to win a horse race, you might want to predict the winner by using statistical calculations instead. Often the odds on the horse most likely to win is poor. And do not forget, the horse still has a chance of winning too. Thus, the question asked is if you should bet on the horse most likely to win? Sometimes the answer to this is “no”. Of course, if you placed a win bet and the horse does win, then you will come away with lots of money. Remember, when you use this system, you are making your predictions on the odds. For this reason, I do not always place my money on the horse that is predicted to win. Therefore, it is statistically speaking, a bad race to bet on. If the odds are less than 4/1, then I suggest passing such a horse race. Of course, this is providing that you placed a place or show bet. . However, bookmakers/tracks usually only offer poor odds if you bet place or show on such a horse. The key point: is stay away from horse races where there are lots of runners!

Why does the horse predicted to place actually wins so many races? Maybe because the favorite usually only wins 1 in 3 races. I suggest that you choose horse races with nine runners and 1/4 odds on the first three, or six runners with 1/4 odds on the first two. Remember, that your horse only has to come in the first three in a six or nine horse race for you to come away with a profit

Legalize sports gambling, NBA commissioner says

It is currently only legal in Nevada; New Jersey is moving toward legalization — against the opposition of all four major pro sports leagues.

.

Silver says new laws would have to protect the integrity of the sports.

In an op-ed article for The New York Times published online on Thursday, Silver says fans should have a safe and legal way to gamble on professional games. He suggests a federal framework that allows states to legalize sports betting. He says new regulations would help prevent underage betting while educating those with a gambling problem about how to bet responsibly.

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver says it’s time for a new approach to betting on sports.

Sports leagues have long opposed gambling on games, claiming it creates incentives for game-fixing

Supreme court rejects Delaware sports betting appeal | Reuters

appeals court that a 1992 federal law prohibits Delaware from offering betting on individual games in all major sports.

The North American professional leagues for baseball, basketball, football and hockey and the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) all argued that Delaware’s sports lottery plan violated the 1992 law..

The appeals court ruled in August that Delaware was limited to parlay betting, or gambling on multiple games, and only on National Football League contests. The state went ahead and now offers such betting on at least three NFL games.

In appealing to the Supreme Court, attorneys representing the state argued the appeals court wrongly concluded that Congress had prohibited Delaware from adopting a sports lottery scheme as a way to balance its budget.

The law, the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act, prohibits betting on sports, but exceptions were granted to Delaware, Nevada, Montana and Oregon because they previously operated some forms of sports gambling.

Delaware had expected at least an estimated $17 million in revenues from the sports betting plan in the 2010 fiscal year to help close the state’s budget deficit.

Delaware offered parlay bets on NFL games for a few months in 1976. They said the estimated $17 million in sports gambling revenue represented a trivial percentage of the state’s $3.1 billion budget.

The justices without comment let stand a ruling by a U.S. The appeals court ruled that under the federal law Delaware was generally limited to what it offered in 1976.

WASHINGTON The Supreme Court on Monday rejected a Delaware appeal that argued the state should be allowed to offer a new sports betting lottery to generate revenue to help ease its record budget deficit.

Attorneys for the professional sports leagues and the NCAA told the Supreme Court the appeal should be rejected

Legalized sports gambling would be winning bet for NBA & NFL

That’s the main reason that despite being an attractive and growing market, no major sports team is based in Las Vegas

The first state poised to try to join Nevada is New Jersey, where casinos are tumbling into bankruptcy and cutting thousands of jobs.

“Everybody knows here that if you have a gentlemen’s bet or a small wager on any kind of sports contest, it makes you that much more…engaged in it,” Silver said at a sports forum in New York.

But an attorney for the state’s casinos, Lloyd Levenson, says there are federal obstacles to legalized sports betting that need to be resolved. What New Jersey hopes is that the opportunity to bet on football and basketball will bring in bettors who also throw a few bucks into slot machines and at blackjack tables. And he hinted that his league might be less opposed than in the past, primarily because of the interest gambling generates.

Even if the obstacles are cleared, sports betting is not likely to be a cure for Atlantic City’s casino problems. This week, Gov. He says the casinos hope the problems can be resolved in time for the Super Bowl in February. The National Football League and Major League Baseball declined to comment. “That’s where we’re going to see it pay dividends.”

Surviving A Losing Streak

It is this double dose of negativity that makes a losing streak so hard to deal with.

One way to survive is to just stop playing for a while. It will happen to each player. Change what you are doing, but remember “cut back ” is the operative words of strategy. This is a death play when drowning in a losing streak. This where staying on an even keel as to confidence comes into play.

This article is the property of Safe Casinos

. Cut back your play is the correct move in these circumstances. Do not make the most serious mistake a gambler caught up in this situation can do and make larger wagers in hopes of getting even sooner. Consider playing fewer days a week or month. When the streak ends, the run of wins can be remarkable and being ready to take advantage of this turn for the best is the difference between an experience gambler and a novice.

Gambling cycles like all components in life. Knowing what to do and doing it is the answer to this negative side of gambling.

By: Adel Awwad -

Surviving a losing streak is one of the most difficult situations any gambler can experience and hopefully overcome. If you are a parlay player consider making smaller parlays or none at all for a period of time. How it is dealt with will determine how seriously the affect is on the gambler. No trend will stay in play forever, however the losing streaks are a part of gambling and must be addressed by each player. This will work, but if gambling is a major part of your life, this is hard to do. Cut back on the size of your bets and the number of bets you make. Hands that have been losing at black jack suddenly start holding up or the dealer breaks on hands that previously were killing you. Another element of play should be immediately put into play. The biggest problem with any losing streak is the gambler does not know when it will end, but knows that it will end. Consider playing a different game or level of a game. Losing sessions can follow winning gaming sessions. Losing streaks take a toll on the gambler’s stake and also on their confidence. The run of bad luck is coming to an end when you make a needed river card or hit a series of place bets on a dice table

Sports :: How to Win at Betting: Sports Gambling Winning Percentage, What You Need to Know

In the question above, it would be much better to be a 55-percent handicapper if you were playing 150 games a month, as opposed to a 60-percent handicapper playing one game a day. And as is the case with the Arkansas-based giant, many times this will be more profitable than being extremely selective and doing a small amount of volume, even if the mark-up is higher.

For the bettors that do their own handicapping, however, units won is really the only thing you should be concerned with, as that ultimately is going to translate into the bottom line. A winning percentage of 55-percent sure doesn’t sound as sexy as a 60-percent handicapper, but if your volume of plays is high enough, it can certainly be much more profitable.

Making it more difficult for sports bettors is that some sports services will claim to have won 200 units in a particular sport, but don’t mention that they release 10- or 20-unit plays, along with several 100-unit “locks” at the end of the year if things aren’t going so well and they need something to base next year’s advertising on.

The only statistic that sports bettors should be concerned with is units won, which is the amount of profit, or loss, they have over time, and not worry nearly as much about winning percentage. At the end of the month, the 55-percent handicapper would have gone 83-67 for a gain of 9.3 units, while the 60-percent handicapper would have gone 18-12 for a profit of 4.8 units, so the 55-percent handicapper has made nearly twice as much.

If somebody were to ask you if you would rather be a 60-percent handicapper or a 55-percent handicapper, which would you choose? The obvious answer is that it’s better to be a 60-percent handicapper, but that isn’t necessarily true.. With baseball season coming back in about 4 months, many sports gamblers will be seeing ads from different sports services claiming winning percentages of 65-percent for baseball, and that’s entirely possibly, but what the services aren’t saying is that the majority of their selections were favorites of -200 or more, turning that 65-percent handicapping into a losing proposition.

The 55-percent handicapper is using what is commonly referred to as the Wal-Mart Approach, which is to have a lot of volume with the expectation of grinding out a small profit

Horse Racing Systems: 5 That Work

My computer studies of pedigree, based on nearly 100,000 races, suggest that using pedigree in that manner offers no advantage to the player.

Horse Racing System #2 – Bet horses that have an excuse for a poor performance in their last race. The inside post combined with early speed is a particularly potent combination, since the horse will not have to exert himself as much to gain his preferred position at the front of the pack.

In that spirit. I’ve identified some of the most useful handicapping factors that have a proven history of doing much better than the track takeout and put them together with some simple rules that should make your trips to the racetrack more fun and profitable.

How do we identify the best pedigree, then? If you’re using the DRF past performances, use the stud fee as a proxy for quality, and the Tomlinson figure to judge suitability for the distance and surface. My own studies have shown a similar advantage for the inside post in routes.

First time starters return only about 60 cents on the dollar, and second time starters are only a little better, returning less than 70 cents on the dollar. One of the few anomalies turned up by Michael Nunamaker in his pioneering computer study “Modern Impact Values”, published in 1994, was that horses breaking from the inside post position in route races won more than their fair share of races, and were under-bet by the public. Most people who love horse racing would be thrilled just to win a little more and lose a little less on their trips to the track.

Horse Racing System #3 – In maiden claiming races, bet the horse with the best pedigree. Because speed figures have gained in popularity over the years, anyone following that system now would have trouble coming up with gas money for the ride home from the track.

The horse with the best last race speed figure (whether Beyer, BRIS, or Equibase) may not be the best horse in the race, but he’s probably not far off, so we can use that as a proxy for selection purposes.. I was able to replicate this result in my own study of nearly 100,000 races conducted a decade later.

Second, the very nature of the parimutuel system itself means that any profits to be made from following a particular set of rules will quickly be arbitraged away as the followers of that system drive down the odds of horses chosen by the system.

Horse Racing System #1 – In maiden races, bet the horse with the best last race speed figure that has had at least two career starts. The inside post in turf routes actually showed a small profit, but this was based on a small sample size and cannot be relied upon. It must follow, therefore, that if we bet the best horse that has started at least twice, we stand an excellent chance of beating the takeout, particularly in races that have several first and second time starters.

This causes the favorite to be under bet in the place pool, leading to a profit opportunity for us to take advantage of by betting the favorite to place. This system takes advantage of one of the few glaring inefficiencies in the parimutuel pools, namely that first and second time starters are badly over-bet.

Horse Racing System #4 – Bet low-priced favorites to place. Let me let you in on a little secret about these “magic formulas”. Just don’t expect to quit your day job.

Nunamaker reported that the inside post in dirt route races won at a 20% greater than expected rate, and lost only 10 cents on the dollar, much better than the track take. If the tote board suggests that the public is overlooking these mitigating circumstances, make your play.

However, just because systems won’t make you rich doesn’t mean there’s no place for them at all in a horseplayer’s arsenal. This is another mistake that bettors make: in a race with a clear standout, many people give up on the win pool and bet their choice to place, thinking that they’ll get paid even if the favorite wins.

In fact, pedigree does not generally offer wager value with one curious exception: well bred horses do surprisingly well in maiden claiming races. In most case the public seems to take a horse’s last running line at face value. The horse with the best combination of the two is the play.

Horse Racing System #5 – Bet Horses breaking from the inside post in route races. Thanks for reading, and see you in the winner’s circle.

In the first place, the parimutuel takeout in horse racing is large (over 15%) and the mutuel pools are relatively efficient, so that even systems with a strong basis in reality can’t overcome the size of the takeout.

For instance, many speed figure handicappers reported making horse racing profits in the 60′s and 70′s simply by betting horses with the best last race speed figure. It should go without saying that you should actually like the favorite’s chances after evaluating the race with your own handicapping.

None of these systems will make you rich, or even guarantee that you will make a profit. They will, however increase the chances of a profitable day at the races by ensuring that your wager dollars go where they have the best chance of success. This offers opportunity to more diligent players.

Instead of blindly betting all horses breaking from the inside, you might use this to supplement your handicapping, paying particular attention to the inside horse, and betting it when you like the horse on other handicapping grounds. To the extent that most handicappers use pedigree at all, it’s usually to identify horses that may improve when switched to the turf, or those who may be expected to win as first time starters. None of them work.

Looking for a dead simple horse racing system that will allow you to quit your job and make a living betting the horses in just 10 minutes a day? Good luck with that!

Look for comment lines like “bled”, “lost rider”, “clipped heels”, “stumbled”, “steadied”, “between horses”, “rank”, and “jumped shadows” that suggest that a horse’s last race was not indicative of its true ability. This is somewhat counter-intuitive since you’d expect that horses with good pedigrees that end up in the maiden claiming ranks probably can’t run at all. My study suggests that’s not the case.

For as long as humans have bet on horse racing there have been system sellers trying to con the gullible into parting with their hard earned money with the lure of easy profits to be made on the sport of kings. Few bother to even look at the comment line for the race, let alone take the trouble to seek out and watch the replay of the race. With the BRIS pp’s you can use the Sire Production Factor in concert with the pedigree rating

The National Football League, Major League Baseball and the NCAA did not have a comment Friday on Silver’s position.

“Gambling has increasingly become a popular and accepted form of entertainment in the United States,” Silver wrote in an Op-Ed Friday in The New York Times.

But there are already some signs of a change of heart at the NFL, the same league that once banned Vegas tourism commercials from the Super Bowl lest it be seen as endorsing gambling.

Fantasy sports is a form of sports gambling which is allowed under current law.

The NBA announced its own partnership deal with FanDuel on Thursday that grants it an equity stake in the site. That’s also the main reason that despite being an attractive and growing market, no major sports team is based in Las Vegas.

But beyond those kinds of sponsorship deals, the leagues are betting that the biggest side benefit that gambling will generate is greater interest in their sport. the stock market

Leagues have opposed sports betting because of the possibility it could compromise their games’ integrity — a big concern ever since the thrown World Series in 1919, where Chicago players conspired with gamblers to intentionally lose the games.

In the Op-Ed, Silver called on Congress to change the law prohibiting sports gambling in most of the country since 1992.

Silver says it is important to protect the integrity of games, but argues that it would be easier, not tougher, with legalized gambling. 14, 2014 by Chris Isidore   @CNNMoney November 14, 2014: 2:46 PM ET

Don’t bet on him being the last.

On Friday, the Washington Redskins announced a marketing agreement with FanDuel, which runs daily fantasy games. It is estimated to be a $1.4 billion a year business.

More interest means even better ratings for what has increasingly become the most valuable programming on television. “Over half of them have legal casinos.” He quoted estimates that $400 billion is wagered on sports every year. And that means even bigger broadcast rights deals for the leagues, which is where the big money lies.

72 Percent of Women Say THIS Male Body-Type is ‘Perfect’

In fact, 62 percent of men seem to think that women want a man with Hugh Jackman’s arms, Justin Bieber’s hair, Gerard Butler’s face, footballer Cristiano Ronaldo’s legs, and David Gandy’s torso. Perfect, the outcome is still the same: We want real men, as opposed to cardboard cutouts or Photoshopped abs with great lighting. We want men with personality, soft, cozy middle sections, and someone who can make us laugh. (Personally, I’d take Zach Galafianakis over Ryan Gosling, because that’s what perfect looks like to me. ladies would gladly take the “boy next door” look over the look of “luscious hulks.”

Now, if only Jacamo could do the same study but focusing on what men consider to be perfect. (I’m betting on us, ladies.)

Whether we go for the tall and mysterious type or the short, chubby man who is funnier and smarter than he is good-looking, we all have our own version of what constitutes perfection. Not to be judgmental, but I have a sneaking suspicion that the bodyparts men throw together to create the perfect woman is going to prove which gender is far less superficial. And while I don’t think every woman I know would agree with me on that exactly, I do think no female over the age of 14 is going to be posting “I’m looking for a man who, ideally, has Justin Bieber’s hair,” on their online dating profile.

Since our very earliest interest in boys, most of us have been searching for the perfect man. Imagine that.

I can’t say I’m entirely surprised based on some of my friends’ boyfriends – I kid! Our preference aside, the study also found that what we consider to be utter perfection, and what men think women find “ideal” are two completely different animals. At 10 and 11, we flip through teeny-bopper magazines equating perfection to pre-pubescent members of boy bands, and from there, for the rest of our lives, we’re focused on the idea of finding the one – the ideal man — who is perfect in every single possible way.

Horse Racing Books, eBooks, and How to Improve Your Handicapping

The old saying, knowledge is power is certainly true and no where is it more obvious than at the race track.  Trying to handicap horse races and make money off your bets is difficult enough, but imagine trying it without good information?  So maybe it isn’t just knowledge that is power, but information is also power, in fact, the best way to say it might be that information converted into knowledge is power.

My advice is to read as many of those books as you can and at the end of each book, write down what you think the key points were that the author tried to make.  It may all wind up just being about 5 sentences, believe it or not.  But those 5 key points added to the points from the next book you read and then the next will begin to be a handicapping method of your own.  While no single author can make you profitable, putting the top writers together and boiling it all down to a method you can understand and stick with, will certainly put you on the right track.

Without a source of past performances or other handicapping material, all the knowledge of horse racing in the world won’t do you any good.  On the other hand, if you have good past performances and speed sheets and a ton of information, it won’t do you any good unless you know how to use that information.

So the key to success betting horses is to read some good books by authors who are known for their expertise and then to use the information they recommend.  Several top authors come to mind whenever you talk about handicapping.  Their books sell well so you would think that the people who read them would be winning, but that isn’t always the case, because, like I said, it depends upon how you use their information.

Good horse racing books and eBooks about horse racing handicapping teach you how to take that information and use it to find good priced winners.  You still have to figure out how to do that, however.  No book is going to automatically make you a winner.  It would be nice if they could, but then again, every person who read a book would be a winner and soon there would be no losers.  That wouldn’t work.
